Amsterdam-based Altın Gün are essential interpreters of the Anatolian rock and folk legacy and a leading voice in the emergent global psych-rock scene. They already made a name for themselves, especially in mainland Europe, with their hotly tipped 2018 debut album ‘On’, a hugely popular KEXP performance and hundreds of gigs.
“We do have a weak spot for the music of the late ‘60s and ‘70s,” Altın Gün bass player and founder Jaspar Verhulst admits. “With all the instruments and effects that arrived then, it was an exciting time. Everything was new, and it still feels fresh. We’re not trying to copy it, but these are the sounds we like and we’re trying to make them our own.”
And what they create really is theirs. Altın Gün radically reimagine an entire tradition. The electric saz (a three-string Turkish lute) and voice of Erdinç Ecevit (who has Turkish roots) is urgent and immediately distinctive, while keyboards, guitar, bass, drums, and percussion power the surging rhythms and Merve Daşdemir (born and raised in Istanbul) sings with the mesmerizing power of a young Grace Slick. This isn’t music that seduces the listener: it demands attention. Explosive, funky and transcendent.

Την Τρίτη 20 Ιουλίου στο Θέατρο Κολώνου, πραγματοποιήθηκε σε πρώτη παρουσίαση, η νέα παράσταση του Δημήτρη Μπασλάμ «Λέω να πετάξω».

Μία αλληγορική οπτικοακουστική ιστορία, για μικρούς και μεγάλους, από τον βραβευμένο μουσικό και συγγραφέα παιδικών βιβλίων.

Πού πηγαίνει άραγε ένα μπαλόνι όταν το αφήσουμε από τα χέρια μας; Πόσο ψηλά θα ανέβει; Ποια θα είναι η διαδρομή του; Τι θα συναντήσει;

Ένα μουσικό παραμύθι για ένα μικρό κορίτσι, την μικρή Ζωή, που αφήνει από το χέρι της το καινούργιο κόκκινο μπαλόνι της. Μία μικρή ιστορία για την αρχή και το τέλος. Για την ημέρα και τη νύχτα. Την καλημέρα και την καληνύχτα. Τη ζωή και το θάνατο.

Επί σκηνής οι εξαιρετικοί Φώτης Σιώτας και Δημήτρης Μπασλάμ, αφηγούνται, τραγουδούν, συνδιαλέγονται για τη συναρπαστική πορεία της ζωής: Τη γέννηση, την παιδική ηλικία, την ενηλικίωση, την οικογένεια και το γήρας.

Ο λόγος και η μουσική συνοδεύονται από μία, μοναδικής αισθητικής, εικαστική προβολή, ειδικά σχεδιασμένη για την παράσταση από τον video artist Ανδρέα Καραουλάνη.

Οι διαφορετικές αισθήσεις ενεργοποιούνται, ο λόγος γίνεται μουσική και η μελωδία αφήγηση!

An extremely rare opportunity to see experimental duo Autechre, one of electronic music’s most preeminent acts, perform live in Greece at one of the capital’s most iconic venues, Odeon of Herodes Atticus. The duo has carved the history of electronic music for the past three decades and have recently revealed their latest album “Sign”. They are one of the most intriguing and absorbing electronic acts around at the moment and their live experience is not to be missed!
Autechre are an English electronic music group consisting of Rob Brown and Sean Booth, both natives of Rochdale, Greater Manchester. Formed in 1987, the duo are one of the most prominent acts signed to Warp Records. Alongside Aphex Twin, μ-Ziq, Black Dog & LFO, Autechre came to define the UK techno movement in the 90s, creating a legacy that would influence the electronic genre in it’s entirety. Their music has exhibited a gradual shift in aesthetic throughout their career, from their earlier work with clear roots in techno, electro and hip hop to later albums that are often considered more experimental in nature, featuring complex patterns of rhythm and subdued melodies.
The Autechre live experience is a classically pitch-dark mind-warping audio affair, which has undoubtedly reached an iconic status, as the quintessential of electronic music performances.

Ambient, reverb-heavy dream-pop as Grouper performs from her new album, Shade.
Grouper’s – artist Liz Harris’ – music is transportive: elegiac and haunting like a half-remembered dream upon waking. Filled with hazy overdub and reverb, yet sparse and intimately revelatory, the songs slip through your fingers like water.
Her twelfth album, Shade (released on Friday 22 October), features songs that were recorded over the past fifteen years, including first single ‘Unclean Mind’. Throughout, she threads a hidden radiant language of voice, disquiet, and guitar, framed by open space and the sense of being far away.
Panos Alexiadis
Panos Alexiadis is a sound artist based in Athens, Greece mainly working with electronics and magnetic tape. His approach to sound lies between composition and improvisation, all merged in long form built structures of synthetic and acoustic textures, evolving a sense of wandering in an introverted semi – abstract sound environment.

After the unannounced release of their first single, the group was shrouded in mystery while the Dutch scene was demanding for more releases to its likeness.
A shadow play set against a smokescreen decor with vintage synths, creating a grimm atmosphere invoking feelings of emptiness, dystopia that feels peculiarly comfortable.

Incirrina
“emotional melodies that stick in your mind, combined with heavy/strong beats that impel you to dance”
Incirrina is an electronic – minimal synth band based in Athens, Greece, formed by George K.(synthesizers, sampler, drum machine, vocals) and Irini T. (synthesizers,vocals).
Their debut 6-track EP album entitled “8.15” – inspired by the poetry of the great romantic poet of the 18th century William Blake -was released on 9 December 2018 in the electronic platform “Bandcamp”. On 29 October 2019 an LP under the same title “8.15” and including 11 tracks, was released by Geheimnis Records. The album has been listed as one of 2019’s top albums by “Rodon FM” and “Black Room” radios and many of the songs have been selected and included in compilations and playlists such as “White Light/White Heat”, “Blauerosen”,”theboyinstatik”, “Cold Transmission”. On 5 November 2020 they released the digital maxi single “Utter”- including the songs “Dance Of The Dark” and “Shrapnel Words”. Their live performances have been described as having a “totally amazing sound, one can hardly believe that only two musicians produce such a rich sound without the use of pre-recorded music material”, “A unique blend of analogue electronic instrumentation, distinct vocal quality, and band chemistry bring powerful live performances yielding alluring and immersive shadowy atmospheric settings infused with sheer emotional intensity rich in psychological struggle”.

Wildly talented band Evritiki Zygia, is headed to Athens for the ultimate concert experience and promises to break boundaries with captivating and ecstatic music on Sunday 10th April, 2022.
Evritiki Zygia was founded in 2007 by five musicians who played mostly in local festivals, their main concern being the preservation and evolution of the Thracian musical tradition. It consists of primitive musical instruments deeply rooted in the tradition and mind of the Thracian locals – the bagpipe, the lyra, the kaval, the davul. Ιnstruments intertwined for thousands of years with Thrace, forming an integral part in the life cycle of the Thracians – joy, sadness, marriage, death, work, migration.

 

The collaboration with Teranga Beat helped this project evolve even further. Forms of arrangement different than the ones used in local feasts and festivals, were introduced giving more space to the dynamics of the instruments and allowing musicians to show both their improvisational and compositional skills. The distinctively psychedelic element of Thracian music was enhanced with the introduction of the CRB-Diamond 800 organ and the Moog, giving the whole project a hybrid sound with a unique identity. The album contains both covers of traditional songs and original compositions and was recorded on an analog 24-track tape Otari MX80. It is a live recording that captures the energy of the group’s live performances.
